Capital One Bank

Support for the North Louisiana STEM Alliance.  Up to 120 LMI students and their families will gain access to high-quality STEM programming and career advice through our North Louisiana STEM Alliance partners.  

  

1. “Family that Codes Together program.” CEO Ebony Mitchell of Oremi Technologies and Solutions will host a program that teaches not only the student, but the entire family how to code. The overarching STEM Goal of this program is to deepen proficiency and understanding of coding for underserved families. Because of the pandemic, this program will be adapted to a virtual platform as necessary. Up to 50 served. 

2. “FunZone - STEMTORSHIP program.” Hosted by Jasmine Clinton, NLSA entrepreneur and owner of Fun Zone LLC Powered by STEAM, this program will feature “Build A Bot” where kids are able to use recycled cans to build robots! The STEM Goal of this program is to guide students through the engineering design process, giving them youth voice and authenticity. Up to 50 served. 

3. “Virtual STEM Career Deep Dive program.” Up to 20 youth (middle school, high school, and early college age) will be guided by NLSA STEM Entrepreneurship & Career expert J.J. Conway using an online personality test. The report shows students their personality, what careers and/or college degrees people with their strengths find rewarding, and also tips for getting along with others who have other personalities. Ms. Conway goes over the reports one-on-one with each student virtually. The overarching STEM Goal of this program is to make relevance by connecting students’ interests to STEM career pathways.

Leap into Science

Supported by the Franklin Institute and the National Girls Collaborative Project. State Leaders from Sci-Port, Green & Gold Library System, STARBASE, and Knock Knock Children's Museum will train 60 educators throughout the state with "light and shadows" curriculum & kits.
